Rick Bastian joined Blackhawk Bank as President & CEO in May of 2001. Today he’s the Chairman and CEO of Blackhawk Bancorp, Inc. and its subsidiary, Blackhawk Bank. He has decades of banking experience, including more than 18 years as the president of banks in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Rockford, Illinois and Racine and Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Blackhawk Bank specializes in financing smaller, privately-held businesses and is a stalwart supporter of manufacturing in the Rock River Valley. The Business Banking Division and the Company’s board of directors know manufacturing. Dave Adkins has over 30 years’ banking experience. He joined Blackhawk in 2004 to lead the Mortgage Division and a few years later added executive management of Consumer Banking. In January 2014 he was named the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer, and at the August 2014 Blackhawk Bancorp meeting Dave was appointed President & COO of the Company and the Bank.
Dave oversees strategic objectives, commercial banking, operations, planning, policies and procedures for the organization. He has managed the bank to a strong position through a company restructure that both improved the efficiency ratio and reduced substandard assets. A forward thinker, Dave is immersed in researching innovative models that can benefit consumers of financial services. It was this same process that helped navigate the Bank and its clients through the Great Recession, emerging smarter and stronger.
Under Dave’s direction, Bankers undergo continuous improvement processes to maintain first-rate advisory skills. Todd's an expert advisor on business management matters and readily shares his knowledge with clients throughout the bank's market area. He directs Blackhawk's team of Business Bankers, Credit Analysts, Loan Underwriters and Administrative Assistants while developing and managing commercial loan relationships. With more than 33 years of experience in the local business banking arena, Todd's keen insights into the local marketplace position him as a lead member of Blackhawk Bank's Asset/Liability and Loan Committees.
The father of three children, Todd lives in Belvidere where he's an active member of the Belvidere Cosmopolitan Club. His two favorite leisure activities are golfing and enjoying all the activities that go along with being a dad.
Andy Williams, Senior Vice President Business Banking
Outstanding banking skills combined with intimate knowledge of the Rockford market are two valuable benefits Andy brings to local entrepreneurs. He's a go-getter who's won numerous new clients for the Bank and proves his dedication to building relationships by delivering excellent customer service. Andy specializes in business banking solutions for manufacturers and healthcare professionals in Rockford and Winnebago County. A former Vice President of Organizational Development at the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Andy knows nearly every business person in Rockford. Blackhawk Bank acquired his professional skill set in 2004.
Andy's a member of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, RMA, and Women of Today's Manufacturing. Andy and his wife Chanin have two children and live in Winnebago. His hobbies include model rocketry, trap shooting, fantasy football and cycling.
Jim Pieschel, Senior Vice President Business Banking
Jim brings 26 years of banking experience (23 of them in commercial banking) to the bank’s team of experts. He previously managed a commercial banking division with 13 commercial bankers and loan balances in excess of $400,000,000. He has specialized expertise in Illinois revenue bond financing, as well as financing for manufacturing and the development of senior living communities. As a management trainee during his first two years in banking, Jim learned how a bank truly operates and how multiple lines of business engage to meet the needs of its clients.
Jim serves as a board member of the Crusader Health Foundation and is the Chairperson of the University Club of Rockford Scholarship Trust. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts / Economics degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana/Champaign.
A lifelong Winnebago County resident, Jim, his wife Courtney and their two children reside in Loves Park. His favorite leisure activities include being entertained by the antics of his kids, listening to classic rock (Rockford’s very own Cheap Trick is # 1 in that book!), golfing, being a fan of University of Illinois athletics, the Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks, and the Bulls.

Gary joined the Blackhawk Bank business banking team in 2018, bringing with him financial expertise spanning almost three decades. He earned an MBA with a Management Information Systems emphasis from NIU, Bachelor of Finance and Business Economics Degree from SIU Carbondale and an Associate Degree from Rock Valley College. A strong belief in education, Gary has extensive accounting coursework, is enrolled in the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado and is pursuing an Advanced Diploma through the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders.
Civically involved in the Rockford area for many years, Gary currently serves as Board President of Lifescape Community Services/Community Kitchen and is involved in the Gerald Broski Memorial Golf Outing in support of the Center for Sight & Hearing. Gary, wife Connie and their two children reside in Winnebago. In addition to banking, he enjoys family time, running, traveling and attending his children's sports activities.
Steve Parsons, Vice President Business Banking
Steve joined the commercial team at Blackhawk transferring his high-level skills from one great local organization to another. He spent 17 years as the Regional Manager for the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center (IMEC) in Rockford, consulting with Northern Illinois manufacturing clients to develop and implement strategies focused on better product quality, cost containment and faster product throughput. He helped clients increase sales and efficiency, improve their safety record and their marketing initiatives.
During his IMEC tenure, Steve worked with business owners and their bank to improve company finances. He helped create 243 new jobs, retained 1,500 jobs and infused more than $44 million in new business for local manufacturers. He has brought those experiences and manufacturing expertise to benefit the Bank’s small business clients.
Steve holds a B.S. in Industrial Technology from Illinois State University and an M.B.A. in Total Quality Management from Newport University. He completed the comprehensive Galliard Family Business Advisor Level One training program at the Galliard Institute in 2012, equipping him to assist family-owned and closely-held businesses with Succession Planning.
Steve and his wife Sharla (Institutional Research @ Rock Valley College) reside in Rockford. They are actively involved at City First Church. Steve enjoys target shooting, motorcycling, flying, bicycling, traveling, museums and anything mechanical that goes fast.

Jim has been Youth Director at his church for 13 years and is also currently serving on the Rockford University Alumni Association Board. Jim is a life-long resident of Belvidere and married his high school sweetheart, Melenie; they have three great kids. The family is actively involved at Belvidere Covenant Church. Kathy Sink, Assistant Vice President Business Banking
Kathy’s seventeen-year tenure in banking brings extensive experience that includes communicating with the Small Business Administration and facilitating Claims & Reimbursements, Portfolio Management, Loan Applications and Review, Risk Management Evaluation, and resolution of Assigned Non-Performing Special Asset Loans.
Kathy partners with the Client Relationship Managers to act as the point of contact for client’s interactions with other departments within the Bank. She has extensive training and holds numerous certifications in Small Business Administration Governmental Guaranteed Programs.
Kathy’s community service includes serving as Co-chair for the Crusader Community Health Evening of Caring event in 2017; she’s a volunteer for PAWS Humane Society and RPS’s Rockford Reads program, assisting 2nd grade students who are learning to read. Kathy’s a lifelong resident of Rockford, has a son, Mike; also a rescued dog and two rescued cats. Her hobbies include art, music, and decorating.
Jacki Martin, Assistant Vice President Business Banking
Jacki is a 25 year veteran in the financial industry. She has spent the last four years with the Blackhawk Bank family. She is a graduate of a two-year Commercial Lending School program through the Schools of Banking in Kansas.
Her extensive background in business banking gives her a distinct advantage of knowing how to react quickly as business markets and regulations change. She goes above and beyond to make sure her clients' needs are met quickly and efficiently.
Growing up in Northern Illinois, Jacki is dedicated to the area. She attended Rock Valley College (RVC), where she played volleyball on the first National Championship team. This resulted in her becoming an inductee of the RVC Hall of Fame.

While getting acquainted with client Chris Benson during a few visits to the Rockford office, Chairman & CEO Rick Bastian was impressed by Chris's interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and his commitment to the betterment of his clients ... albeit in another field. In a book entitled 'Good to Great', author Jim Collins talks about getting the right people on the bus, and having read the book, Rick recognized Chris as one of those people. A few conversations later, Rick planted the idea of a career at Blackhawk in Chris's head. The idea came to fruition in early 2017, with Chris joining the Business Banking Team.
Chris has 8 years of sales experience serving manufacturing firms. He most recently ran the Southwest sales territory for Zenith Cutter. Now, after undergoing management training and graduating from the Commercial Lending School hosted by the Kansas / Nebraska Bankers Association in October of 2017, Chris is responsible for new business development for the Bank in the Rockford marketplace. He is passionate about delivering high-level customer service and developing strong partnerships with clients.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Rockford University. He and his wife Jenelle live in Cherry Valley with their children Jack and Nora. Chris enjoys traveling, trap shooting, hiking, boating, hunting, and spending as much time as possible with his family. He's a member of Ignite Rockford and the Rockford Cosmopolitan Club.

Jim specializes in locally owned and small corporations, and guides his clients in growing their businesses. Jim earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois. He's an Eagle Scout and serves as Treasurer and Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 2. Jim, his wife, Stephanie, and two children reside in Roscoe. He enjoys spending time outdoors, ATV-ing, motorcycling, and attending concerts.
Jack Walden, Vice President Business Banking
Jack arrived at Blackhawk Bank with over 16 years of experience in commercial banking at a community bank in the Milwaukee area. While there, he developed an extensive amount of expertise in business development, relationship management, and credit analysis. As a native of Janesville, and a resident of Fort Atkinson, Jack is excited to be working at Blackhawk where he can further help assist the local business community.
Jack is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater where he majored in finance, and the Graduate School of Banking, held at UW-Madison. Over his career, he has helped manufacturers, distributors, service firms, non-profits, and real estate investors achieve their vision and goals. Additionally, he has provided financing for mergers and acquisitions for both strategic buyers and private equity groups.
Active in the community, Jack has served on the Boards of the Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity and Milwaukee Achiever Literacy Services. Additionally, he has donated his time to the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County, Special Olympics, and the Ronald McDonald House of Southeastern Wisconsin. As a trusted advisor, Jack also served on the Board of Directors for a large Rock and Dane county supplier of home building materials.
Jack and his wife Mary have twin sons, Justin and Nick. The Walden family enjoys spending free time with family, friends, and their two dogs, being outdoors, traveling, and attending sporting events.

Shawn received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) in 2008 and recently completed coursework at the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Shawn’s a member of the Financial Management Association International, and is a Director of a start-up non-profit, the Butterfly Club. Former affiliations include membership in the Lake Geneva and Lake Delavan Chambers of Commerce; the Lake Geneva Jaycees; Secretary and Captain of the UW-L Men’s Soccer Team.

Phil brings nearly three decades of multi-faceted proficiency in developing commercial banking relationships aided not only by his years of experience in the industry, but also by being licensed as CPA and a Certified Financial Planner. He has a long history of helping clients develop their business to its fullest potential by providing solid advice and banking services geared to attaining specific goals.
Phil earned an Associate’s Degree from UW Wisconsin – Rock County; a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with an emphasis in Marketing from UW Wisconsin – Whitewater, and a Master of Science Degree with an emphasis in Accounting from UW Wisconsin - Whitewater.
Phil knows the southern Wisconsin region and its business environment intimately: his hometown is Brodhead; he has spent the majority of his banking career working and living in Rock County. Currently living in Janesville, Phil and his wife, Lisa, have lived in the Janesville/Milton communities for the past 15 years, where they raised their four children.
Civic involvement has always been important to Phil and includes Board membership with the Blackhawk Technical College Foundation, member of Downtown Janesville Incorporation and member of the Janesville Kiwanis Club. He formerly served as Board member for Forward Janesville, the Junior Achievement Board of Rock County, and the Green County Development Corporation.
Joe Shere, Assistant Vice President Business Banking
Joe has been in the banking industry for more than 15 years, with experience in retail bank management, consumer lending and commercial lending. His experience has allowed him to become well-versed in growing and managing portfolios.
As a University of Wisconsin alumni, he received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. In 2108, he was inducted into the UW - Whitewater Hall of Fame for baseball.
Joe stays active outside of work by volunteering with the Janesville Noon Rotary. He is also an avid outdoorsman, where he spends time with his wife, daughter and two sons.

Originally from Lake County, IL, Tracy sold real estate in Illinois and Wisconsin for nearly 12 years. She now resides in Sun Prairie, WI with her children and golden retriever, Macy. She has served as a Financial Literacy Advisor for Habitat for Humanity of Dane County and was a board member for the Portage Area United Way. Kim brings nearly two decades of industry experience to Blackhawk Bank, having held positions in portfolio management, commercial lending and retail banking. Kim is responsible for helping businesses of all sizes, municipalities and non-profits understand and utilize the many cash management products and services we offer. In turn, she assists them in efficiently collecting, disbursing and investing their cash, while keeping things secure via numerous fraud protection products.
Growing up in a family-owned business in southern Wisconsin allows Kim to have a deep understanding of the challenges facing business owners today, and their need for greater efficiencies.
Kim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance from UW-Whitewater and a Diploma from the Graduate School of Banking at UW-Madison.
Kim currently volunteers as Board Secretary with the YWCA of Rock County, Board President with UW Whitewater-Rock County Campus Foundation, as a Forward Janesville Ambassador, and with the Sips & Sounds Event Committee for Agrace Hospice. She is a former volunteer with United Way and the Arthritis Foundation. Kim is regularly seen volunteering at various community events.

With over 11 year of banking experience, Greg is an accomplished banker and an outstanding leader within the organization. His clients reap the benefit of his deep commitment to developing and strengthening relationships, his wealth of knowledge, and his strong ties to the community. Greg is responsible for identifying, developing and marketing business cash management solutions and fostering a high level of client satisfaction. He serves as a key member of the client relationship team.
Greg specializes in streamlining commercial deposit functions by tailoring a product suite that meets the specific needs of each business. Greg is great at showing clients how cash management services can save time and money within their day-to-day business operations, allowing them more time to focus on growing their business and increasing profitability.
Greg and his wife reside in Rockford. He chairs the Walter Lawson Children's Home golf outing that raises thousands of dollars to help improve the quality of life of children with profound disabilities. Greg is also an active member of local Chambers of Commerce, and participates in community volunteer initiatives like the United Way Day of Caring, Habit for Humanity, and fund-raisers that promote other local charities.
